Eligibility
Grants are awarded almost exclusively in Atlanta and Georgia. While organizations in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee are eligible to receive grants, the Foundation has provided only limited support outside Georgia. The Foundation does not award grants outside the six-state region.
The Foundation traditionally awards grants within the context of large-scale, comprehensive capital campaigns rather than providing support for current operating expenses or programs.
The Foundation considers grants only to institutions determined by the Internal Revenue Service to be tax-exempt and classified by the IRS as “not a private Foundation.” No grants or loans of any kind are made to individuals.
The Foundation typically supports well-established nonprofits with track records of mission achievement.
Additional consideration is given to Christian-based institutions and organizations emphasizing Christian principles. However, the Foundation does not typically award grants to individual church congregations.
In consideration of requests by educational institutions, priority is given to those which are privately-supported and accredited. Support for publicly-supported universities is limited to members of the Georgia Research Alliance.
Grants are not awarded for the following purposes:
Annual operating support
To individuals, including financial aid or for education
Festivals, special events or conferences
Films or documentaries
Start-up funding or seed money
To individual church congregations
